How does it work?

  1. 1

    Scan the product

Point the camera at the food product's barcode. Processing happens on your device; the photo is not sent to a server.

  2. 2

    We fetch the Nutri-Score

We determine the product's nutritional quality by the Nutri-Score system (A-E) and show which component affects the grade.

  3. 3

    Get a clear result

A coloured letter grade (A green, E red) and a plain explanation: how this product rates nutritionally and whether a better alternative exists.

What do you learn from a Nutri-Score lookup?

  • The product's nutritional grade (A-E), coloured at a glance.
  • What sets the grade: sugar, salt, saturated fat (negative); fibre, protein, fruit-vegetable (positive).
  • A suggestion for a more nutritious alternative in the same category.
  • Nutri-Score is an indicator, not a definitive 'healthy/unhealthy' verdict but a comparison tool; we state this clearly too.

Example: the Nutri-Score scale

Fruit Drink

Nutri-Score D
A / B: best (water, vegetables, plain products)
C: moderate
D / E: high in sugar, salt or fat

What if there is no Nutri-Score?

Some products may have missing nutrition data; then Nutri-Score cannot be calculated, and we say so honestly. We still analyse the additives and the ingredient text inside.

Frequently asked

How is Nutri-Score calculated?

Per 100 grams, negative components (sugar, salt, saturated fat, calories) give minus points and positive components (fibre, protein, fruit-vegetable) give plus points; the difference is converted to a letter (A-E). Drinks use a stricter scale.

Does Nutri-Score A always mean healthy?

It means good within its category, but is not a standalone 'healthy' verdict. Still, A/B products generally contain less sugar, salt and saturated fat than D/E.

Does every product have a Nutri-Score?

No, it is calculated for products with nutrition data. For products with missing data no grade is shown; we state that situation honestly.

Is Nutri-Score lookup free?

Yes. Nutri-Score lookup and additive analysis are completely free; no app download needed, it works in the browser.
