Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate

Caution

What is this ingredient, what does it do?

Chemical UV filter (controversial)

What is it, what should you do?

A widely used chemical sunscreen filter that protects the skin from the sun by absorbing UVB rays. Because of its potential to affect the hormone system and its possible harm to marine life, especially coral reefs, it is found controversial in some regions, but it is considered safe for human health at permitted concentrations. It can cause irritation on sensitive skin; those who are concerned or swim in coral areas can prefer mineral filters such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
