Urea

Good

What is this ingredient, what does it do?

Humectant (urea)

What is it, what should you do?

Urea, part of the skin's natural moisturizing factor; at low concentrations it retains moisture, while at high concentrations (10% and above) it softens and sheds dead skin cells. It is especially useful on dry, hard, flaking skin (such as heels and elbows). At very high concentrations it can cause a mild stinging on cracked or sensitive skin, in which case a lower-concentration product can be preferred.

Other names: Hydroxyethyl urea, Üre
