What is it, what should you do?
The mixture that gives a product its scent, whose contents are not disclosed; there can be dozens of substances behind that single word. It is the number-one source of allergy and irritation in cosmetics; with a product labeled "parfum" you cannot know which fragrance substance you are reacting to. It may cause no problem on healthy skin; if you have sensitive skin, eczema or a history of allergy, choosing a fragrance-free product is on its own the single most effective precaution.
