What is it, what should you do?
A powerful vitamin A derivative (retinoic acid) that speeds up skin renewal, used in acne and wrinkle treatment. Because its effect is strong and its side effects (dryness, irritation, sun sensitivity) require medical supervision, it is sold only as a prescription drug and its use in cosmetic products is banned. If you see a cosmetic product containing it, it is something to avoid, probably an unauthorized product; milder, freely sold derivatives such as retinol should be preferred.
