A synthetic fragrance component used in perfume mixtures to give a flower- and jasmine-like scent. Because it was found to have a high rate of causing skin allergies (contact dermatitis), the EU completely withdrew this substance from cosmetic products. It is sensible for those with sensitive skin or a history of fragrance allergy to stay away from products containing it.
