Ingredient
Musk Xylene
Risky
What is this ingredient, what does it do?
Nitro musk fragrance (EU banned/restricted)
What is it, what should you do?
One of the synthetic musk fragrances long used in perfumes. Because it tends to accumulate in the body and the environment and its safety data remained insufficient, the EU banned or strictly restricted this nitro-musk group in cosmetic products. In today's perfumes it has given way to safer synthetic musks; its presence on a label may be a sign of an old formula.
Other names: Musk ketone, Moskene, Musk tibetene
