The cleansers that form the base of traditional bar soaps, obtained from plant (palm, coconut, olive) or animal (tallow) fats; sodium tallowate is animal-sourced (not vegan). It foams effectively but can leave a feeling of dryness by also taking the skin's natural oils. Using a moisturizer after soap on dry skin balances this effect.
